Key Features
The Analogue Systems RS-400 Phaser Module is a 4-stage phaser with a built-in LFO and CV inputs to control the notch frequencies. The RS-400 offers variable resonance through its EMPHASIS knob allowing you to create a wide range of phase-shifting effects and the frequency knob determines the positions of the notches with low and high settings. Additionally, the RS-420 had a built-in LFO that is patched internally to the FREQUENCY of the phase shifters allowing you to modulate between the notches.

The Analogue Systems RS-400 Phaser Module features a frequency control that sets the positions of the of the two notches. At the low setting the lower notch is 20Hz going all the way up to the upper notch which is 120kHz. At the high frequency setting the frequencies go from 7.5kHz to 45 kHz.
The RS-400 has a positive feedback loop that can be controlled by the emphasis (filter resonance) knob which determines the amount of output signal fed back to the phaser input. Rotating the emphasis knob progressively emphasis the peaks between the notches and when at its max high level positive feedback occurs. However, the RS-400 is calibrated so that the emphasis stops just short of self-oscillation.
The RS-400 offers internal modulation as well as CV inputs to allow you to affect or even replace the LFO modulation making it possible to produce a further range of phase effects. The LFO is patched internally to the FREQUENCY of the phase shifters on the RS-400. When a CV of 1V is applied to the phaser module it doubles the FREQUENCY whereas a CV of -1V will halve it allowing you to sweep the notches from subsonic to supersonic frequencies. There are extensive modulation options as the internal LFO can be mixed with the two external CV inputs allowing you to create complex multi-modulations. Additionally, the module has a LFO CV output enabling the module to double as a triangle waveform LFO within your modular system.
