Key Features
The Intellijel Shifty is a remarkable sequential gate and sequencer controller with immense versatility. The Shifty distributes gate and CV signals from a single source to as many as four different destinations, imitating polyphony from a monophonic note progression. The Shifty also brings together the voice allocation mode and analog shift register whilst keeping to the highly compact 6HP design.

The Intellijel Shifty's primary mode consists of taking a monophonic sequence source and routing each new note of the sequence to two, three or four different synthesizer voices in a specific pattern, for added versatility. This way you are able to create pseudo polyphonic sequences as each voice is triggered to play and sustain whilst the next voice in the sequence is triggered. Whilst in this mode the module play one of the four voices each time it receives a gate. The order switch then determines which way the voices play: Forward, Reverse, Ping-pong and Random. This is a perfect way of creating weird interesting sequences or even musically pleasing melodies.
With the capability of voice allocation mode there is also an added feature where the Shifty can function as a digital emulation of an Analog Shift Register. An analog shift register replaces one of the CV outputs, while the other voices are "shifted" to make way for a new one. When used with a pitch sequence source that has a harmonious series of notes, it is especially useful for creating chords that are four notes stacked. A convenient feature of the Shifty's shift register mode is that unlike its analog counterpart, it does not suffer from voltage droop over time. Essentially the Shifty could be used as a simple sample/track and hold module or as a sequential gate
