The SLG200NW II uses Yamaha’s SRT Powered system to recreate the resonance of a mic’d classical guitar within a bodiless design. Yamaha modelled the sound from studio recordings of high-end nylon string instruments captured with carefully chosen microphones, then refined the response to match the SLG body. This delivers warm tone, natural sustain and realistic decay through headphones or a line output, avoiding the brittle edge common to piezo-only pickups. It also removes the need for microphone placement, simplifying home recording and live setups while delivering consistent results in different rooms and environments. Tone remains consistent at any volume, helping classical players focus purely on technique and expression.
With its bodiless construction, the SLG200NW II produces very little acoustic volume compared to a conventional classical guitar. Yamaha rate it as up to 90 percent quieter, making it suitable for late-night practice, shared homes and hotel rooms while travelling.
