A filter bank unlike most mono synths
FILTOPIA stands apart thanks to its bank of five analog filters connected in parallel rather than relying on a single filter stage. This design makes it possible to create layered filter sweeps, shifting resonances, and formant style textures that resemble vowel sounds by offsetting individual filter frequencies.
Each filter includes dedicated resonance and modulation controls, allowing subtle movement or highly animated responses. With careful adjustment, every filter contributes its own character to the overall sound, giving you access to a much broader palette than a traditional monosynth while still maintaining an intuitive front panel layout.
Classic analog sound with extensive modulation
The entire audio path uses genuine analog circuitry, apart from the MIDI to CV section that is required for MIDI operation. Three analog VCOs form the foundation of the sound engine, supported by two sub oscillators, noise, two LFOs, and three ADSR envelope generators.
Flexible routing allows oscillators to feed different sections of the filter bank, creating layered textures that give the impression of multiple synthesis voices working together. The extensive modulation options also make FILTOPIA capable of producing everything from solid basses and cutting leads to percussion, experimental effects, and evolving modular style patches.
More than a standalone synthesiser
FILTOPIA is designed to fit into a wide variety of setups. The external audio input allows drums, synths, guitars, or other sound sources to pass through the analog filter bank for creative processing.
Patch sockets for audio and CV signals let you reconfigure internal routing or integrate the instrument with Eurorack and other modular systems. MIDI and CV can also be used together, making it possible to combine analog sequencing with MIDI control for more advanced performance techniques. This flexible approach gives you room to expand your setup while keeping the synthesiser at the centre of your workflow.
Create spacious analog performances
Unlike many monosynths, FILTOPIA features two independent VCAs with separate quarter-inch outputs, making stereo performance an integral part of the instrument. The main output includes the onboard echo effect, while the auxiliary output provides a dry signal controlled by a separate envelope.
Using different envelope settings across both VCAs allows you to create natural stereo movement and expressive panning effects. An onboard eight-step sequencer adds another layer of hands-on creativity, encouraging spontaneous pattern building and evolving modulation while keeping the focus firmly on performance and sound design.
