ILLUMINATOR is designed to translate musical control voltage directly into light without any abstraction. CV signals from your modular system, drum machines, or analogue synths already contain the rhythmic and dynamic information of your music.
ILLUMINATOR simply converts that voltage into brightness across eight channels. There is nothing to program and nothing to recall. As you play, the visuals react instantly, following every beat, accent, and modulation. This keeps your focus on performance, while the visual side evolves naturally alongside your sound.
Flexible outputs for creative setups
Each of the eight channels is compatible with standard 12V LED strips that are widely available and easy to work with. These strips are flexible, lightweight, and often include adhesive backing, so attaching them to cases, stands, walls, furniture, or custom structures is straightforward.
Because the system stays compact, an entire lighting setup can travel in a small backpack. Beyond LEDs, ILLUMINATOR can also drive other 12V DC devices, including motors, electromagnets, and filament bulbs, opening the door to kinetic sculptures and mechanical sound and light installations.
Simple control with wide CV compatibility
ILLUMINATOR accepts CV signals across a broad voltage range, making it compatible with many types of music gear straight out of the box. Each channel features its own trimmer pot, allowing you to adjust sensitivity to match the output level of each CV source.
This also gives you control over maximum brightness per channel. Factory settings are optimised for common 5V signals, but adjustment is quick using a small screwdriver. Bipolar CV signals are supported, with negative voltage treated as zero for predictable behaviour.
Built to support experimentation
The rear and front connections make ILLUMINATOR easy to integrate into different workflows. CV inputs support Eurorack mini jacks as well as pin connections with alligator clips, allowing creative patching methods.
Power input and outputs use standard DC connectors, keeping cabling simple. Built-in protection helps guard against short circuits and reverse polarity effects, especially useful when working with inductive devices. For advanced users with electronics experience, the design also supports more experimental operating ranges, making ILLUMINATOR a solid foundation for ambitious audio visual projects.
