Key Features
The Verbos Electronics Bark Filter is a 12-band fixed filter bank with dedicated envelope followers per band as well as an integrated voltage controlled mixer. Verbos Bark Filter uses a combination of band-pass filters and high-pass filters to create steep filters with individual inputs and outputs and envelope outputs per band for maximum flexibility and seamless integration within your existing modular Eurorack synthesizer. The inbuilt voltage controlled mixer features intuitive sliders for volume as well as CV inputs and outputs with a centre and width control that allows you to scan across the frequency spectrum to be blended and mixed in a variety of ways. Perfect for sound designers, the Verbos Bark Filter provides you with a Spectral Tilt function to boost the harmonic content of a set frequency band between low and high, allowing you to transform the sound of your tracks from dull and lifeless to exciting and vibrant.
Giving you a range of flexibility, the Verbos Electronics Bark Filter provides you with dedicated outputs for the even and odd followers as well as switches to flip control of the opposite sides levels. Swapping the control of the envelope followers will produce some interesting results and create effects reminiscent of vocoders, making it the perfect choice for vocalists.

The Bark Filter is centred around the Bark scale, a psychoacoustic scale of pitches based on frequencies on which equal distances correspond with perceptually equal distances. The frequencies within the scale are the same as what is presented within the Bark Filter, whereby the highest band is processed with a high-pass filter and all frequencies are processed through band-pass filters. The Bark scale is employed in this module thanks to its musicality that can add a unique flavour to your music outside of conventional scales and patterns.
Offering you a versatile range of functionality and versatility, the Verbos Electronics Bark Filter can integrate seamlessly into your existing modular Eurorack synth. At the heart is the 12 bands of frequencies where the levels of each filter can be set manually and modulated in a number of different ways. Each band features a CV input as well as the universal scan function that has been implemented from the Verbos Harmonic Oscillator to dynamically control and modulate several bands simultaneously. To use the scan function, the "frequency scan" dial scans through the frequency spectrum where the centre and width dials determine the centre frequency and bandwidth. Additionally, there is the "spectral til" section with CV input to emphasize the low or high harmonics to produce some interesting harmonics and overtones that can lift your tracks to pop out from your mix.
Every band in the Bark Filter passes through an individual envelope follower that produces a CV whereby the sum of each CV is sent through the follower's output. The time of each envelope is set globally between 100ms to 3s to dictate the speed of the filters to produce different tones that may be suitable for certain instruments, where longer settings will work effectively for vocal performances and shorter settings are more suited to percussive signals such as drums.
The Bark Filter gives you the ability to produce some interesting effects, mainly a six-band vocoder effect for vocal performances. To implement this effect in your performances, the toggle switches on the right side of the module allow the odd envelope followers to control the level of the even channels in the mix or vice versa.
