Groove Agent 6 lets you shape acoustic drums around your production with dedicated layering and replacement for kicks, snares, and toms. Add another snare layer for extra presence, reinforce a kick, or replace individual toms without changing the rest of your setup. Groove Agent 6 also includes a huge 47 new acoustic kit pieces, with 15 kicks, eight toms, and 24 snares sampled across a range of sizes and materials. There’s also the new Punch Kit, based around a deeply sampled Tama Starclassic Bubinga kit with natural room ambience. Its 25 presets include different mixes and professionally played MIDI styles, covering intros, outros, and multiple groove variations.
The onboard pattern editor provides a focused space for building and refining beats, with a dedicated lane assigned to each pad. For generating fresh ideas, random and Euclidean step generators can quickly produce rhythmic variations that you can then edit to suit the track. If you want to quickly get ideas up and running for your music, Groove Agent 6 also comes with more than 1,000 drag-and-drop MIDI grooves and patterns to cover all genres and styles you will need to create perfectly suited grooves in your tracks.

Warp Mode uses a new spectral algorithm to play drum or melodic samples in sync with your project tempo or beats, making it easier to integrate sampled material into an existing groove. Pitch Detection provides another useful shortcut, analysing the pitch of a drum sample with a single click so you can tune it to the key of your song. For further shaping, the new Shaper Mode lets you draw, tweak, and refine envelope curves intuitively, giving you detailed control over how individual sounds develop.
Groove Agent 6 streamlines sound selection and mixing with an updated interface and context-sensitive MediaBay. Search results automatically respond to your current task, so layering a kick displays relevant kick samples rather than making you search through unrelated sounds. Kit presets now have previews that automatically follow your track tempo, helping you audition options in context. The Mixer is integrated into the lower interface but can also be undocked or opened separately, with a unified mixer and FX editor across Agent types. Five new effects expand your processing options, including Auto Gain Compressor, Fuzz Distortion, Clipper, and Studio EQ 24.
