Key Features
The Twisted Electrons FLEXfm Groovebox is a standalone production instrument designed for electronic musicians, sound designers, and live performers seeking hands-on creative control. Combining eight independent voices with four operators per voice, it lets you build detailed sounds using synthesis, sampling, and physical modelling.
Product Ref: 377972
FLEXfm gives you eight independent voices, each containing four operators that can combine synthesis, samples, noise, and physical modelling. Its modulation matrix lets you connect operators using frequency, amplitude, and ring modulation, creating punchy bass sounds, evolving pads, and complex textures.
You can also explore different sound sources, including wavetables, vocal tones, and custom-drawn waveforms. Choose between monophonic synthesis, chord voicing, and oscillator sync to suit your sound. Four LFOs per voice provide further movement, with adjustable modulation depths and drawable waveforms. You can even use one LFO to influence another, creating detailed changes that develop over time.
Each FLEXfm voice includes a dedicated analog multimode filter, letting you shape its frequency response and introduce drive. For more unusual textures, the digital filter options offer additional sound-shaping possibilities. ORACLE uses three-dimensional morphing to move between resonant peaks, notches, vowel-like sounds, and metallic characteristics.
CROQUETTE provides three coloured low-pass filtering modes for introducing different degrees of grit. ADSR envelopes, velocity sensitivity, and key tracking give you further control over filter behaviour. Full-colour LED rings around the main controls display parameter values and modulation activity, helping you follow adjustments during sound design and live performance without constantly checking the screen.
The integrated sequencer provides 16 patterns, each containing eight voice lanes with up to 128 steps and eight substeps per step. Individual lane lengths and playback rates allow different rhythms to develop together, while probability, swing, and conditional steps introduce variation. You can arrange patterns across eight named song sections, complete with key changes and repeat settings.
The joystick adds another performance dimension, allowing you to morph between prepared pattern variations or trigger rhythmic effects. Polyphonic sequencing supports four overlapping notes per voice, while tempoFlex curves let individual rhythms accelerate or slow against the master tempo. This makes developing changing arrangements straightforward.
Record through the mono audio input, import WAV files, or use the built-in piezo drum pad to capture dynamic performances. Eight mono sample pools provide approximately 13 seconds each, with slicing, reversing, and repitching available for creative editing. Twelve-pad drum kits offer individual tuning, gain, and playback adjustments.
Built-in reverb, delay, and compression help shape your finished mix. For studio integration, eight individual mono outputs provide separate voice routing, while USB audio streams individual tracks directly into your DAW. The companion editor also supports MIDI pattern editing, sound management, and arrangement control, making it easier to develop ideas across hardware and software.
