About Rousseau
Rousseau is a brand built around the designs and expertise of renowned concert saxophonist and educator Dr Eugene Rousseau. After struggling to find a commercial mouthpiece he could confidently recommend to his students, Rousseau developed his own, leading to the launch of the original Classic R in 1972. JodyJazz acquired Rousseau Mouthpieces in 2020, and the latest Rousseau 3.0 mouthpieces are now manufactured entirely at the JodyJazz factory in Savannah, Georgia. This brings Rousseau’s established designs together with modern manufacturing, hand-finishing, play-testing, and careful quality control. The 3.0 models also feature a matte hard-rubber finish and engraved logos with gold detailing.

The Rousseau 3.0 JDX Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece uses Dr Rousseau’s V Chamber design to provide a powerful sound with a strong tonal core and projection, making it particularly suited to jazz playing. For a more traditional character, the Rousseau 3.0 Classic R Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece follows the original Rousseau design with a warm, rich sound suited to classical performance. Soprano players can also consider the Rousseau 3.0 Classic NC Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece, designed for a strong tonal core and singing quality with a free and responsive feel.
Rousseau continues to combine Dr Eugene Rousseau’s saxophone expertise with the manufacturing methods introduced under JodyJazz. Its mouthpieces retain the distinct playing characteristics of the original designs while reflecting the consistent production and careful finishing of the current Rousseau generation.
