The Faith Naked Saturn guitar features a solid engelmann spruce top that offers strong, rich overtones and versatility. Engelmann spruce is lighter in weight and less stiff than sitka spruce, this allows the top to vibrate more. The top will produce a complex tone, strong mids, giving players a smooth sound. The wood itself is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright singing highs. The engelmann spruce top is accompanied by solid mahogany back and sides which produces distinct character of soft warmth, but is well balanced with a bite of its own. Used as back and side panels the mahogany delivers a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.
The Saturn's neck is constructed from mahogany, offering great durability and resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are crafted from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The neck is topped with a ebony fingerboard that delivers a very responsive, bright, snappy and crisp attack coupled with a smooth sustain.
The Faith Naked Saturn features a square-shouldered dreadnought body shape, which provides an enormous voice, and maintains overall tonal balance. The square shoulders act as an aesthetic feature as well as offering a dominant dreadnought voice. The dreadnought shape was originally designed for hard pick attack. However the modern dreadnought shape from Faith features specially designed bracing and construction that enables the Saturn to handle many different genres and playing techniques. The big body is ideal for players with a longer reach, and those more comfortable with the dreadnought size. The sheer volume the Naked Saturn can project makes it ideal for the singer/songwriter, as vocalists can really push their diaphragm to the max and not feel too loud against the guitar's volume, as it will sing as loud as you do.
The Faith Naked Saturn features bracing designed by Patrick James Eggle. The Patrick James Eggle X-brace design is made from quarter-sawn spruce, which provides added versatility and durability. Bracing serves two purposes, to stop the guitar from collapsing under string tension, and to shape the guitar's sound. The Patrick James Eggle X-brace design forms an X shape that intersects just behind the sound hole, giving support and stability to your guitar, and a beautiful, well-balanced tone.
The aptly named Faith Naked Saturn comes from Faith stripping away non-essential dressing and cosmetics, which leaves the guitar in its completely natural state. The Naked Saturn is a beautifully designed and well-crafted instrument that features some simple, yet effective decorative features. These decorative features include an "F" Faith logo situated on the 12th fret, abalone rosette and mother of peal inlays, all providing a truly stunning aesthetic appeal. The abalone sound-hole rosette glistens beautifully against both stage and natural lighting, and Faiths signature brand logo graces headstock, inlaid in mother of pearl for added elegance. The Naked Saturn will certainly shine bright on any stage.
Patrick James Eggle had a major input to the design of many of the Faith family. He built his first guitar at the age of fifteen as a school project. By the time he had completed it, he was already completely dissatisfied by the outcome of his project, and decided to pull it apart and start again from scratch. This started a life long obsession which lead him to fame and has now gained an incredible reputation among collectors and players for his uncompromising quality and amazing eye for a tasteful design. His commitment to producing guitars of the highest quality tone, finish, and playability is extremely popular. Faith Guitars was created back in 2002 by an exclusive group of veteran guitar specialists, led by the legend himself Patrick James Eggle. He has trained each new staff member in hand-building and hand-finishing techniques that have characterised Patrick James Eggle guitars for decades.
With workshops located in West Java, Indonesia, Faith have dedicated their working lives to both sustainable and ethical manufacturing processes, and are extremely conscious of environmental and human resource concerns. Each Faith model is produced in accordance with this vision and radiates the elegance of craftsmanship and superior tonal sounds for which Patrick James Eggle's designs are so well known.
