Thunderous and destructive. These pickups deliver a low, rasping roar that will get the crowd going. Customised by Thomson in partnership with Seymour Duncan, they have been designed specifically to evoke Slipknot's thumping rhythm. They've managed this by tightening the bottom end to work better with dropped tunings. Meanwhile they've engineered the highs to be intensely sharp with lots of cut, but without any scratch or harshness.
The bridge pickup accentuates deep chunky palm muting styles, while the neck pickup cleans up nicely for crystal clear tones which get more aggressive with an increase in gain.
It's time for metal mayhem. Jackson have carefully constructed the SL2's maple neck to give you every advantage when rocking out. Its custom super-thin profile makes it very comfortable to hold, enhanced by the brilliant compound radius fretboard which is curved for easier chording at the lower frets, but flattens out to give room for exhilarating lead playing at the high frets.
Unbelievable sustain. A neck through body construction allows each note to ring endlessly as it improves tonal transference from the neck to the body. Regardless of the genre, sustain is one of the most desirable qualities in a guitar for its ability to amplify the impact of each note. Mick Thomson's Jackson accomplishes superb levels of sustain due to this clever construction, quality nut and angled headstock.
This guitar is also equipped with Jackson's premium-built MTB HT6 bridge, designed with its fine tuners angled back from the vertical level to help maximise the level of comfort for the picking hand. Its high-quality design also provides the ultimate tuning stability, featuring three anchor points to deliver devastating resonance ideal for low-end "chugs".
Mick Thomson is best known for his role as the lead guitarist of the iconic metal band Slipknot and commonly known as #7. This American heavy metal musician grew up with a fascination with death metal bands, beginning his musical career in several local bands and expanding his knowledge on delivering the most brutal tone possible. After joining Slipknot, Thomson perfected his destructive playing style and became a legend in delivering slaughtering riffs in dropped tunings.
